PAMA Kids and Family

PAMA is a place for children to explore their artistic talents and learn about Peel's history and heritage. We offer a variety of workshops, programs and camps suitable for children ages 6 to 12+. Caregivers must accompany children unless otherwise noted. 

Family Fun Activities

Saturdays and Sundays | 1 - 4 p.m.
Guide your family through art projects that inspire creativity. These drop-in activities are included in the cost of PAMA admission and members are free.

Sunday FUNdays

Each Sunday FUNday includes our Family Art & Stories program designed for families with younger children (3 to 6) as well as special programming for the whole family.
Included with admission and members are free. Registration required for select special guests.

Jan 20 - Capture the Moment 
  • Catch Me If You Can Presented by Scientists in School | 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
    Do you have what it takes to be Sherlock Holmes? Test your powers of observation and deduction as you use forensic science to solve the mystery of the missing munchies. Fingerprints, footprints, and invisible ink - oh my! (Best suited for families with children 7 to 12 years of age). Space is limited, reserve your spot now.

Feb 17 - Celebrate Black History Month
  • Storytelling with Sandra Whiting | 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
    A charismatic storyteller, Sandra has told her tales on radio and television, spoken at hundreds of schools to thousands of children, in churches, in libraries, at festivals and at special events. We welcome you to come hear her stories at PAMA and to participate in a hands-on activity.

      Have you ever wondered how much packaging resources go into a typical lunch? Learn about ways to reduce waste with school lunches and make healthy choices. Then, create a creature inspired by recycled materials and healthy lunches.

    Celebrate Family Literacy Day at PAMA! Join us for drop in activities and a reading by Brampton author Yolanda Marshall, author of Keman's First Carnival, A Piece of Black Cake for Santa and Sweet Sorrel Stand.

    Monday, Feb 18 | 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
    Spend a fun-filled day at PAMA with free activities and events inspired by our winter exhibitions Ronald Bloore: Black and White and North is Freedom.

    Don't miss our three family fun, drop-in activities from 10 a.m - 4 p.m. Create a polar bear winter scene plus an abstract scratch board masterpiece. Then meet local artist Mosa McNeilly who will lead in the creation of a community art project based on Underground Railroad quilt codes.

    Enjoy a family storytelling performance with Diane Brathwaite and Chris Whitley: Sugar & Gold, Story of Underground Railroad in Canada. Performances at 10:30 a.m. and repeated at 2 p.m.

    In the Mix
    Monday, Mar 11
    - Two times | 10:30 a.m. & 2 p.m.
    In The Mix is a hip hop dance and iPad music video program for kids all ages. These SUPERSTARS will learn latest dance moves coupled with iPad technology, to create an on-the-spot music video. Through solo and group participation, children will discover the latest in hip-hop dance, music, and technology all within a fun, energy-filled environment. Kids will also receive the opportunity to be directors and choreographers.

    Mad Science Spin! Pop! Boom!
    Tuesday, Mar 12
    - Two times | 10:30 a.m. & 2 p.m.
    This thrilling performance by Mad Science will explore a combination of chemistry and physics. Audiences will be amazed by a colour change demonstration. Children will witness a number of exothermic reactions that will produce a Genie Out of a Bottle and a Giant Foam Snake. The fundamental forces of planet Earth will be summoned as the Mad Scientist turns a glass of water upside-down without spilling a drop.

    Applefun Puppetry, Little Red Rocket Ship

    A cosmic trip to the Planet of the Grandmothers with Applefun Puppetry! Everyone will create a paper puppet to take home.

    Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, step right up to the center ring for an incredible family friendly CIRCUS themed magic show filled with old fashioned fun and marvelous interactive magic. Prepare to be amazed at the Carnival! Fun for the young and old this show is full of surprises.

    Samba Squad
    Friday, Mar 15
    - Two times | 10:30 a.m. & 2 p.m.
    Founded by award-winning percussionist Rick Shadrach Lazar, Samba Squad is an innovative group that is forging new directions by mixing world rhythms with the sound-power and street-feel of the drums of the Afro-Brazilian Samba tradition. Join in this interactive performance. 

    March Break

    Discovering Treasures in the Archives

    Saturday, Apr 6 | 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
    Discover the treasures we hold in the PAMA archives! Families will get a first hand look at historic photos, diaries, war letters, and maps. This session will be followed by a hands-on creative activity using reproduced images from the collection.  

    Decorating with Natural Dyes

    Easter Monday, Apr 22 | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
    In this playful drop in activity, participants will learn natural dyeing basics and how to create dyes made from plants, food and other natural materials. You will also use flowers, food, and leaves to create patterns with simple techniques for the whole family.
    Included with admission and members are free.
