Art SmArt
Develop interpretive skills as students apply critical thinking to their discussions about art. Students will express their self identity during the studio activity through creative portraiture.
Art SmART is a great opportunity to introduce discussions on art with your students and encourage them to use their imagination and their critical thinking skills in deciding what they like or dislike and why. They use art vocabulary throughout their discussions and analyze how artists use Elements of Design to communicate feelings, tell stories and convey ideas. They are encouraged to describe how the ideas of a variety of artworks relate to their knowledge and experience.

Art studio workshops
Watercolours
Students will learn various methods and techniques used by professional artists to create one technique or /experiment sheet, and one final painting.
Students will apply the creative process to produce a variety of two- and three-dimensional art works, using elements, principles, and techniques of visual arts to communicate feelings, ideas, and understandings.
Printmaking
Students will create a one-of-a-kind etching using simple intaglio techniques to reflect self-identity through creation of a self-portrait.
Students use simple printmaking techniques, including collagraphs and relief, to create one-of-a-kind artworks. Students experiment with cutting and gouging a variety of lines and marks to enhance the background and use negative space, and make a collagraph to communicate personal experiences.
