Beat the heat at PAMA in August: discover vibrant exhibits, workshops, and events

BRAMPTON, ON (Jul. 29, 2026) – Stay cool in historic, air-conditioned spaces at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) this August and join family activities and creative adult workshops.

Creative explorers

Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Drop in for hands-on, instructor-led adventures and become creative explorers.

  • Aug 4: Find artwork with local history and create a watercolour artwork inspired by the artist’s medium.
  • Aug 6: Celebrate summer with miniature flowers and plants.
  • Aug 11: Explore how lithographs are made and create your own print.
  • Aug 13: Design a mixed media piece that shows what “home” means to you.
  • Aug 18: Let’s paint! See how abstract expressionist artists use texture in their art.
  • Aug 20: Learn what an agamograph is and make your own.

Words in motion: downtown Brampton hike and write (age 13+)

Thursday, Aug 13, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Join Maria Talotta for Words in Motion: a guided, place-based experience designed to clear the mind, awaken the senses, and reconnect participants to the natural rhythms of their local environment.

Family summer fun day

Saturday, Aug 22, 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. is a pay-what-you-can admission day.

Enjoy family tours, story time in the gallery, art activities, and special guests.

  • Abstract art: 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Beaded flower holders: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Family-friendly tour: 1 to 1:15 p.m.
  • Story time in the gallery: 1:30 to 1:50 p.m.
  • Hands on Exotics: Lion tamer interactive animal experience: 2 to 4 p.m. Live show from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Drop-in before or stay after the show for an opportunity to interact with the animals. Space is limited and registration is recommended.

Remix the page: a creative mixed media art workshop (age 15+)

Thursday, Aug 27, 6:45 to 8:45 p.m.

Uncover hidden stories and create art that’s truly your own. Join artist and poet Vanessa Vigneswaramoorthy for a playful, hands-on workshop where you’ll transform archival text into expressive erasure poetry, then turn your poem into a striking mixed media artwork. Experiment with crossing out, highlighting, layering, and reshaping words to reveal surprising meaning and unexpected narratives. No experience needed, just bring your curiosity and leave with a one-of-a-kind piece you’ll be proud to display.
