Behind the Bars: The History of the Peel County Jail

Core exhibition

The exhibition aims to take a thoughtful and compassionate approach to the 110-year history of Peel County Jail, and the stories of those who spent time within it.

If you have recently visited the Behind the Bars exhibition, take this anonymous survey to help us understand and improve our programming and exhibitions centred on the Jail and imprisonment.

This survey is a part of a larger project being funded by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Partnership Engage Grant (reference number: 892-2023-0034). It was developed in partnership with the Carceral Cultures Research Initiative (CCRI) led by criminology and tourism researchers Dr. Carolyn Côté-Lussier (INRS), Dr. Justin Piché (University of Ottawa), and Dr. Kevin Walby (University of Winnipeg).
