David Blackwood: Ode to Newfoundland

A recent acquisition of works on paper from local collectors Carol and David Dickson, by nationally acclaimed artist, the late David Blackwood will be on view in David Blackwood: Ode to Newfoundland. The works consist of the famed dark and moody intaglio prints of the seafaring communities of Newfoundland’s yesteryear with which Blackwood was closely familiar, including the Lost Party series that recounts the tragic story of seal hunters trapped in ice, as well as watercolour landscape paintings of the artist’s beloved province. 

This exhibition recognizes the seminal role that donors play in shaping the permanent collection and the value of relationship building between collectors and PAMA.
