Jude Griebel: Illuminated Collapse

April 12 – September 7

Illuminated Collapse is a series of miniature, sculptural scenes that tell stories about the end of the world. Each scene is built on a round base, showing strange and disturbing events. These tiny worlds reflect our own, consumerist, industrialized, and polluted modern way of life and the inevitable destructive impact on the environment. The exhibition asks us to think about how our daily lives connect to these larger issues and the future of our planet.

Bio

Jude Griebel creates highly detailed figurative sculptures that explore humanity's complex relationship with the environment. His works merge landscapes, affected species, and human-created waste into vivid forms that highlight the far-reaching consequences of consumption. Painstakingly crafted from wood, clay, and paint, his pieces contrast themes of mass production and instant gratification, offering hours of reflection on consumerism and alternative futures. Griebel’s work has been supported by prestigious residencies, including Pioneer Works and Yaddo, and funded by organizations such as the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the Canada Council for the Arts, and the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation.
