Celebrate Sikh Heritage 2024 this April at PAMA

BRAMPTON, ON (April 5, 2024) – The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) and the Sikh Heritage Month Foundation have partnered once again to showcase events, activities and a dynamic art exhibition, all month long! General admission to PAMA will be free, courtesy of the Sikh Foundation of Canada from April 1 - 30.
Sikh Heritage Month 2024 Opening Day Art Exhibition Launch
Saturday, April 6
- Exhibition Opening Day: 1984 Path of the Warrior Saints 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Join Rupi Kaur, in a special exhibition to explore Sikh culture, human rights, social justice and spirituality showcasing works by Sikh artists from around the world.
- In Conversation with Rupi Kaur: 1984 Path of the Warrior Saints 3:30 – 4 p.m. Renowned poet and best-selling author Rupi Kaur speaks about her curation of the exhibit 1984 Path of the Warrior Saints. This exhibition is a key component of this year's Sikh Heritage Month as it honours and commemorates the attack on the heart of the Sikhs, the Harimandir Sahib Complex, and the genocide that followed. Rupi Kaur will speak on the work presented from diverse artists curated to express the community’s interpretations of Sikh history, politics, spirituality and future. - Celebrate Earth Month Monday, April 1, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Celebrate the Earth with PAMA and the Peel Region Public Works team with environmental education activities, sustainability tips, and also learn to make your own seed balls! This drop-in activity is included in general admission. Members are free.
- DIY Studio Time Weekends, each month, 1 – 4:30 p.m. Connect over self-guided art projects that inspire creativity. Do-it-yourself studio activities change every month. Enjoy this month’s activity inspired by the month-long exhibition Path of the Warrior Saints.
