Archives research and services

Visiting the Archives

Visitors are invited to explore the historical documentary collections at Peel Region Archives at PAMA. The Archives staff are always ready to help.

Before you visit the Archives, make sure you:

  • Make an appointment to use archival records. An appointment lets us prepare the records, space, and staff for your visit. To book an appointment, email us.
  • Book your appointment ahead of any personal deadlines. Spots fill up fast, and archival research can take time.
  • Archival researchers will be asked to observe Reading Room guidelines. These include completing a one-time registration form and using a locker for coats and bags.

Hours

Research visitors must book an appointment to ensure that staff and records are available.

  • Research appointments are available Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The Archives is closed during lunch hour and on evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • The Archives may also remain closed occasionally due to off-site staff responsibilities.

Contact us

Email is the most efficient way to reach us. Follow-up phone calls can be arranged.

Archives services

Research assistance

Archives staff will do their best to help distance researchers with quick look-ups of easily targeted records, allowing for up to 30 minutes of staff time.

For lengthier or speculative record searches, researchers will generally need to visit us and conduct their own research or engage an independent researcher to do so on their behalf.

Access our research guides for an overview of our collections and to learn about our self-serve resources.

Photographic image requests and records copying

The Archives makes digital images available from the collections in accordance with the Copyright Act, applicable privacy legislation, and donor agreements. Fees may apply. For more information, contact us.

During public hours, self-directed digital photography of some records is allowed in the reading room. Be sure to consult the Archives staff for permission before photographing any record.

Archivists can scan and photocopy records on request, subject to applicable legislation, donor agreements, record fragility, and feasibility.

Reproduction fees
